Why Hearthlane

What working with us actually looks like

No pressure, no jargon. We work at the pace your family needs and explain each step in plain language.

Organised around your household

We build the folder structure around the specific documents your family holds, not a generic template.

Multilingual record handling

Records in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Tamil or other languages are coordinated for translation where an office requires it.

Clear about what we do not do

We name plainly the matters that belong with a licensed professional — a lawyer, accountant or registered agent — and never overlap into those areas.

Scheduled, not rushed

Meetings are arranged at times that suit your family. There are no countdown devices or pressure to decide quickly.

Designed for dispersed families

When relatives are in different cities or countries, we coordinate so the same information does not have to be repeated to each person.

Physical and digital, together

Every file arrangement includes both a labelled physical folder and a mirrored digital copy, so the family can find documents in either form.

Would a second pair of eyes on your household papers help?

A short conversation is enough to work out which arrangement, if any, suits where your family is right now. There is no obligation attached to reaching out.

Common Questions

Things families often ask us

What kind of documents does Hearthlane work with?

We work with household administrative records — birth certificates, MyKad and identification documents, marriage and divorce certificates, school and educational records, utility account histories, property-related correspondence and address verification documents. We do not handle financial instruments, legal pleadings or medical records.

Is this the same as a legal or professional advice service?

No. Hearthlane provides informational, organisational and administrative document support only. We do not offer legal advice, financial advice, representation before government bodies or any regulated professional service. Where a matter requires a licensed practitioner, we say so plainly and name what type of firm to approach.

How long does the Records Assembly arrangement take?

The Records Assembly for Family Administrative Files runs across five weeks with three meetings. The timeline can shift slightly depending on how many documents need to be located and whether translation is required. We discuss the realistic timeframe at the first meeting before any work begins.

My family members live in different states. Can you still help?

Yes. The Household Coordination Programme is designed specifically for dispersed families. We build a shared digital archive that named relatives can access, hold fortnightly contact sessions and coordinate so the same information does not have to be repeated across different cities. Initial meetings can be held in person or remotely.

What happens to my family's documents after the work is done?

All physical documents remain with your family at all times. We work with copies unless a specific step requires handling an original, and in that case it is returned the same day. Digital copies are stored only in systems agreed upon with the family and are deleted from our working storage at the end of the arrangement.

Are there additional costs beyond the listed price?

The prices listed cover the scope described for each arrangement. Third-party costs — for example, official document replacement fees, postage or translation by a registered translator — are passed through at cost with no markup and are discussed before they arise. Nothing is added without your knowledge.

I am not sure which arrangement fits my family. What should I do?

The best starting point is a short conversation. Use the contact form below or call us directly, describe your household's situation briefly, and we will suggest which arrangement, if any, is a reasonable fit — or whether the Family Document Orientation is a sensible first step to find out what you actually have.
